What is the most popular sweet in the UK?

The very best in traditional cola cubes sweets.

Well you will all know by know that we live and breathe sweets at DaffyDownDilly!

There are without question standout favourite sweet choices in our shop, and we thought we’d share them with you… we have a huge range available so to make it a little bit simpler, this time I’m going to focus on retro sweets available both in our shop and to buy online.

So what is a retro sweet? Well, we see them as firm favourites from the ‘70’s and ‘80’s… you remember, the ones that we used to buy in the corner shop or on our holidays as children and that still hold a place in our busy adult lives.

So, in order of popularity…

In at number 5 is Anglo Bubbly, a fabulous fruity bubbly gum. Just the smell is enough to get your tastebuds tingling and take you back to those competitions over who could blow the biggest bubbles…

At number 4 are bananas and shrimps – we couldn’t separate them and neither can our customers who nearly always choose a mix of them both! Delicious sweet candy with lovely flavours, they were always on my shopping list as a 10 year old!

Black Jacks and Fruit Salads slide in next at number 3, who could forget the combination of soft Aniseed Black Jacks turning your tongue black and fruity pineapply Fruit Salads… retro sweet heaven!

Our second most popular retro sweet is Rhubarb and Custard. Ours are a national award winning delight… the perfect blend of sharp tangy rhubarb and sweet creamy custard – delicious! We have an alternative Rhubarb and custard choice too in the less retro and more modern soft tubes, super popular amongst our younger customers. Double whammy!

And our most popular retro sweet?

Drum roll please… it’s the fabulous and irreplaceable Flying Saucers. Scrummy, melt in the mouth discs containing sharp sherbet in the centre… By far our best selling retro delight and we can’t see that changing any time soon!

Next time, traditional sweet winners…
