Our Daffy-down-dilly pilot shop in the High Street, Sidmouth, Devon, opened in April 2014. We carry a huge range of popular and specialist confectionery products and piñatas. We have a vast core product range. In addition we supply bespoke gifts of sweet jars, hampers, candy cakes and party sweet bags made to any budget. This service ensures we are able to meet the needs of just about any customer with any budget.

The shop prides itself on providing the type of friendly and professional service that regrettably most shoppers simply don’t get these days. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for our well trained staff.

DaffyDownDilly has proved so popular that in January 2015 we were voted “New Enterprise of 2015” by the Chamber of Commerce, an award we were very proud to receive in our first year of trading.

What makes us a popular destination shop?

The bright, cheerful shop design and lively atmosphere is key. Coupled with a virtually unbeatable, well priced, product range and outstanding service has already developed considerable customer loyalty. We know that’s so important to the success of any retail business.

DaffyDownDilly is a specialist retail confectioner with a particularly strong, fresh, young and dynamic brand image. This was developed by Franchise Consultants Limited to appeal to all ages.

We are now keen to accept initial expressions of interest in opening a Daffy-down-dilly confectioners shop, as a further pilot outlet. We love to hear from anyone who feels they would like to offer the same level of service that we do and be willing to mirror our company ethos in their own area. Interested parties are invited to contact me if they are able to raise the necessary funds, which will vary depending upon the size and location of the proposed new shop’s location.

For the first 5 sweet shop franchises taken up, the initial franchise fee will be £9,950 + VAT. Because we are determined you will succeed, our licence fee for you to use the DaffyDownDilly corporate image and systems and receive ongoing support will be set at just 3% of your net monthly sales turnover. (This is designed to keep your expenditure to the minimum during your early growth period and in the future.)

What do you need to know?

In addition to the sweet shop franchise fee you will need to cover the cost of the following:

  1. Basic shop fitting.
  2. The deposit for rent (normally paid 3 months in advance).
  3. Legal costs associated with the lease.
  4. Insurances.
  5. PRS and music licence (we play popular music in our stores).
  6. A suitably sized bottle cooler.
  7. An ice-cream freezer if required.
  8. Initial stock.

We will provide:

  • Initial and ongoing advice and support in all aspects of the business.
  • Up to two weeks training in our pilot store.
  • Advice on the layout and shop-fitting design of your chosen premises.
  • Guidance on the shop’s internal and external fittings to ensure you maximise the Daffy-down-dilly corporate image benefits.
  • Shop façade signage
  • Window lettering.
  • ‘A’ board and posters.
  • A set of electronic scales.
  • Cash register.
  • Labelling gun.
  • Display jars.
  • Initial jar labels.
  • Initial supply of bag labels.
  • Presentation jars.
  • Initial supply of paper and carrier bags.
  • Aprons with logo.
  • Ongoing seasonal marketing material templates.
