Our range of bonbons is increasing due to their increasing popularity with our customers, so I thought I’d write a little bit about them.
It’s an unusual name if you think about it, that originates from German and translates as meaning candy, or sweetie. Bonbons are a real traditional sweet, with the first report of them way back in the 17th Century at the French royal court.
And over time, they have become entrenched in English sweet culture with a huge range of flavours available. Our most popular bonbons are, without question, Blue Raspberry and Strawberry flavoured. With the first primarily appealing to our younger customers (the flavour and the fact they turn your mouth blue being important selling points!). And the latter with our adult customers. Even R.White’s lemonade (remember them?!) have a bonbon now!
They are two entirely different beasts, Blue Raspberry is a modern flavour and has a chewy texture. While our fabulous Strawberry bonbon has the traditional real toffee centre and a powdery strawberry flavoured coating. If you haven’t tried them, you really should. The combination of sweet toffee and slightly tangy strawberry fruit is enough to really get your tastebuds dancing!
